Washington DC Engagements at Union Market, Dumbarton Oaks and the Jefferson Memorial with Stasi & Jen
Stasi and Jen are two of my favorites! I've known Stasi for 10 years (holy cow, we were such babies when we met) and I have never seen him as happy as I have seen him with Jen. For their portraits we hit up DC and traveled all around the city. I cannot wait for their September wedding! Scroll down to see some of the images from our session and learn a little bit about the two of them!
How did you two meet?
Jen: We met in Blacksburg, VA while we were both in undergrad. We were casually introduced by a mutual friend and hit off our friendship after I "accidentally" stole his highlighter during a study session at the library. I was two years ahead of him and left the area after graduation but always stayed in touch. We really connected once Stasi graduated and moved up to the DC area. The rest is history!
How did the proposal go?
Stasi: We were in Bulgaria at our friends wedding. The journey took us from Bulgaria to Greece and then finally to Albania with a fantastic group of friends. The whole time we were frolicking around the Mediterranean I had the diamond ring in my backpack terrified that at any moment someone could bump me and boom the ring is gone. After two weeks our friends started heading home but Jen and I prolonged our trip to visit the beautiful city of Budva in Montenegro, just north of Albania. After spending a few days at the beach and sightseeing, we were on our final day and the only place we had not toured was the 12th century castle in the old part of the city. We went there right at sunset and finally found a quiet spot near an opening in the ancient walls. I took to the knee and in what felt like hours (1.8 seconds) she said yes!
What are some things that you two love to do together?
We love to spend time with friends, make home cooked meals, ice skate, travel, act goofy, watch movies, go to concerts and capitals hockey games, drink at various watering holes, go on adventures with our two old pups and have lazy wine nights. Most of all we just love to be together.
What is something special/unique to your relationship?
A quirky thing about us is that we often find ourselves rescuing other people's discarded houseplants, giving them ridiculous names, and nursing them back to life. We also share a love for traveling to unexpected places and experiencing the day to day culture.
What is the most anticipated moment of your wedding day?
We can't wait to see all our ideas and planning come to life and to celebrate surrounded by our friends and family from across the globe.
So far through planning your wedding what has been your most valuable piece of advice?
We've had two: Always have a plan B, you never know when a curveball will be thrown your way and to enjoy the planning process together without sweating the small stuff.
