Belle Isle Engagements in Richmond,VA | Melissa & Zach
Matt and I moved to Fredericksburg in July last year and the very first thing I remember getting excited about was the possibility of doing an engagement session at Belle Isle in Richmond. I threw it out there as an option for Melissa & Zach and they were thankfully all about it.
I had such a great time with these two, it was honestly effortless (I seriously get the best couples). Also, funny story - Belle Isle is a riverbed covered in giant rocks. Some of the rocks have holes in them that are filled with water. While snapping the pic above a took a step back and fell right into one of those holes. Thank God Matt was with us and he grabbed my camera before it plunged into the hole with me. *My hero*.
Scroll down to read a bit about Melissa & Zach and to see some of my favorite shots from their session. I cannot wait to witness these birds get married!
How did you two meet?
Zach and I met while working the Mary Washington Hospital night shift. I was a nurse and he worked in the pharmacy. All of our co-workers would tease us that there must be something going on because he would visit me so much during the shift. We insisted we were friends, but they were right all along :)
What is your proposal story?
Zach drove us to Sky Line drive for the day. He drove all the way through to find the perfect spot. I could tell he was a bit nervous. We climbed up to the top of this huge rock. He carefully got down on one knee and asked. After I said yes and the ring was in place, he thought it was funny to pretend to fall off of the rock.
What is your vision for your wedding day?
Melissa: Picture perfect beautiful weather with close friends and family. Stress free :)
Zach: A good time filled with happiness and friends/family.
What do you two enjoy doing in your free time together?
We love to relax at wineries or walking trails. We both love cooking at home and trying new restaurants.
What is something quirky or unique to your relationship?
This one is difficult, what comes to mind is the first time meeting Zach's father. He was having him tow our car out of the a pile of snow after getting stuck twice driving home from work one morning.
Also, we watch vine videos almost every night. We could quote funny vines daily. Probably to the annoyance of a lot of our friends and family, haha.
If you had one token of advice for couples planning a wedding what would it be?
Zach says eloping for sure. I would say to enjoy the moments and not stress the small stuff, but also probably eloping haha.
What are you most looking forward to?
Melissa: The moment that I see Zach for the first time as I am walking down the isle.
