One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is hearing each couple’s love story. Like every couple, every story is unique and special. Before this sweet couple ever spoke to each other, Matt saw Lauren walking across William & Mary’s campus. He turned to his friend and proclaimed she was the most beautiful girl on campus. He was determined to meet her, and a few days later, they officially met at a party during homecoming. From the first kiss, Lauren knew he was something special.

On a beautiful summer day in August, I drove to Northern Virginia to photograph Matt & Lauren’s wedding. It was important to them that their love and personalities shine. I felt that throughout the day, and it was obvious that they planned their day with their guests in mind.

Matt & Lauren honored the important people in their lives starting with gifts for their parents given on their wedding day. Lauren’s father served in the Navy for almost 30 years, and their deacon also served in the military. Because of these military ties, they chose the U.S. Marine Corps Memorial Chapel for their wedding ceremony. At the reception, they displayed a photo of Lauren’s parents to honor their anniversary the week after the wedding. They even had a small birthday cake for Lauren’s sister. These touches highlighted just how much they treasured the love and support of their families and friends.

The reception was at Potomac Point Vineyard & Winery, a Tuscan-styled venue in Stafford, Virginia. Matt proposed here after a special date and wine tasting, so it was the perfect place for their reception. This place was gorgeous, so I had to break out my drone for some aerial photos of the venue and vines. Wineries are a great choice for a wedding or reception venue, because the wine is flowing and the landscape makes for beautiful photos of the couple. The food here was especially delicious, and everyone danced their butt’s off!

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, let's chat about your big day. I can’t wait to hear your love story!
