Shenandoah Valley Engagement Session at Raven's Roost // Skyline Drive // Virginia

helping girlfriend through the yellow flowers at skyline drive shenandoah valley

Skyline Drive is one of my absolute favorite places to shoot engagement photos (if you haven’t been able to tell already). The views are stunning, and there are so many stops along the road that make for great photos. Sometimes my couples and I have a plan for a specific location and other times we just drive until we find the perfect light or scenery. Either way, we always have a blast exploring together.

Working with Chris & Laura was a great experience. They were laughing and smiling the whole time. When you see these photos, you can tell they were having a lot of fun together that day—we all were!

They were up for anything and didn’t hesitate when I asked them to explore a field of wildflowers we discovered. Laura got these little triangle-shaped stickers from the flowers all over her sweater, but they just laughed together as Chris pulled them off. We were all finding those stickers on our things for days! Worth it.

My couples sometimes will bring two sets of clothes for their shoot and change in the car. Chris was such a gentleman blocking Laura from view, so she could change clothes as discreetly as possible in the parking lot of the overlook. It was adorable. ♥

This weekend, I will join Chris & Laura to photograph their wedding day at Pippin Hill Winery & Farm in Charlottesville. They actually visited this winery during their first overnight trip together, and they joked about getting on the waitlist for a wedding. They are such a special couple, and I can’t wait to share this day with them. I’ve been told there will be plenty of dancing at the reception!

Check out their engagement photos and the gorgeous views from Shenandoah National Park. If you are looking for a wedding photographer, I’m here to help! Reach out and let’s talk about your big day.
