Steven and Lu’s love story took them from the bustling streets of Shanghai to the serene snow-capped peaks of Washington State for their snowy mountain elopement. Originally, the plan was to whisk them away to a mountaintop ceremony via helicopter. But as with all things involving the unpredictable forces of nature, Mother Nature had other plans. A persistent cloud cover settled over the airport, grounding our skyward aspirations. Thankfully, adventurous elopements always come with a Plan B, and ours was nothing short of magical. We set out for an elopement at Gold Creek Pond, a winter wonderland nestled amidst the Cascade Mountains.
The journey became an adventure, with Steven and Lu engaging in an impromptu snowball fight as we trekked through the pristine snow. Laughter echoed through the silent forest, a heartwarming prelude to the vows they were about to exchange. Reaching our chosen snowy mountain elopement spot, was like stepping into a scene from a fairytale. The snow-dusted trees glistened under the winter sun, and the frozen pond mirrored the vast, cloud-painted sky. Steven and Lu declared their love for each other, their voices carrying on the crisp air. The ceremony was intimate and heartfelt.
We were fortunate to have photography and videography coverage. The results are stunning. The photos showcase the raw beauty of the snowy landscape. Their elopement proved that you can create a love story that will be forever cherished with a bit of planning and a dash of adventure.
Research areas that are known for their snowpack and stunning winter scenery. Consider factors like accessibility, permits, and weather conditions. For this elopement, we chose Gold Creek Pond! There are so many beautiful mountain elopement locations in and around Seattle.
Invest in warm clothing and footwear, and pack plenty of layers. This is not the time to wear heels! Grab those boots. Don’t forget hand warmers and a thermos of hot cocoa! Check out this page on my site that goes over how to prepare for a helicopter elopement!
Weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains, so it’s essential to have a Plan B if your original winter elopement location becomes inaccessible. To keep up to date on road closures, bookmark the WSDOT page.
