If ever a venue matched a bride’s vibe, this was it. Matt and Elaina’s Woodinville Lavender Farm summer wedding looked like something straight out of a love story — which makes perfect sense, since Elaina writes them for a living. From soft lavender hues to the golden glow of sunset over the fields, every part of this day felt intentional, heartfelt, and deeply romantic.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at Woodinville Lavender Farm, and I already can’t wait to go back. The venue is equal parts intimate and magical, with fragrant rows of lavender that bloom just in time for summer celebrations. The gardens were in full color, the air smelled incredible, and the warm sun held out all day — right through one of the best golden hours I’ve seen this year.
Elaina’s dress had a timeless elegance that moved beautifully in the breeze. She looked like she stepped off the pages of one of her novels — only this time, she was the main character.
The evening wrapped with an intimate sit-down dinner surrounded by their closest people. The speeches were some of the funniest and most heartfelt I’ve heard in a long time, full of love and just the right amount of sarcasm. We stole a few final portraits in the softest sunset light, and then let the night wind down gently — exactly the way it began: with love, laughter, and a whole lot of heart.
As the sun began to set, the fields lit up in that cinematic glow that makes photographers lose their minds (in the best way). We snuck away for a few quiet moments while guests settled in for dinner. These kinds of in-between moments always end up being my favorite to photograph. They’re raw, a little quieter, and packed with feeling.
